About Sfeeha
Sfeeha are small, open-faced meat pies from Lebanon and the Levant: rounds or squares of soft dough topped with a mix of minced lamb or beef, onion, tomato and spices, baked until golden.
The topping is seasoned with seven-spice blend and cinnamon, and sometimes pomegranate molasses or pine nuts. In Baalbek, sfeeha are shaped into small squares with the edges folded up.
Sfeeha are served as part of a mezze or as a snack with yogurt or lemon juice. Syrian and Lebanese immigrants brought them to Brazil, where "esfiha" became a popular fast food.
