About Fattoush
Fattoush is a fresh, crunchy Lebanese salad made with toasted or fried pieces of pita bread mixed with lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, scallions and fresh herbs like mint and parsley.
The dressing is made from olive oil, lemon juice and sumac, a dark red spice with a tangy, lemony flavor. Pomegranate molasses is sometimes added for a sweet-sour touch.
Fattoush was traditionally a way to use up stale bread. Its name comes from the Arabic word fatt, meaning crushed. It is a staple of Lebanese mezze and popular across the Levant.
