About Moqueca
Moqueca is a Brazilian fish stew cooked with coconut milk, tomatoes, onions, peppers, lime and cilantro. It is traditionally made in a clay pot.
There are two famous versions. Moqueca baiana, from Bahia, uses dendê (palm) oil, which gives it a bright orange color and rich flavor and reflects the state's African heritage. Moqueca capixaba, from Espírito Santo, uses olive oil and annatto instead of dendê and coconut milk.
Moqueca is usually served with white rice, farofa and pirão, a fish broth porridge.
