About Tiramisu
Tiramisu is a famous Italian dessert of ladyfinger biscuits dipped in espresso, layered with a creamy mixture of mascarpone, eggs and sugar, and dusted with cocoa powder.
The name means "pick me up", referring to the energy from the coffee and sugar. Some recipes add Marsala wine or liqueur.
Tiramisu was created in north-east Italy in the late 1960s or early 1970s; the town of Treviso in Veneto is most often credited, though the neighboring Friuli region also claims it. It became one of the world's most popular Italian desserts.
