About Tacos
Tacos are small corn tortillas folded around a filling and eaten by hand. They are the most iconic street food in Mexico.
There are countless types, including tacos al pastor (marinated pork cooked on a vertical spit with pineapple), carnitas (slow-cooked pork), barbacoa (slow-cooked beef or lamb) and carne asada (grilled beef). They are topped with onion, cilantro and salsa, with a squeeze of lime.
Taquerías serve them from morning until late at night. Crispy shell tacos with ground beef, lettuce and cheese are a Tex-Mex style developed in the United States.
