About Samosa

The Samosa is a crisp, triangular pastry filled with spiced potatoes and peas and deep-fried until golden. It is one of India's most popular snacks and street foods.

The filling is seasoned with cumin, coriander, ginger, green chili and garam masala. The pastry is made from flour and oil, which makes it flaky and crunchy when fried.

Samosas are thought to have come to India from Central Asia and the Middle East through traders in the Middle Ages. Today they are sold at street stalls and tea shops across South Asia and are served with mint and tamarind chutneys.
