About Gulab Jamun

Gulab Jamun are soft, sweet Indian dumplings made from milk solids (khoya), deep-fried until golden brown and soaked in a warm sugar syrup flavored with rose water and cardamom.

"Gulab" means rose in Persian, after the rose-scented syrup, and "jamun" is an Indian fruit of a similar size and color. The dough is fried slowly so the balls cook evenly.

Gulab jamun are served at festivals like Diwali and Eid, weddings and celebrations across India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. They can be eaten warm or cold, sometimes with ice cream.
