About Pierogi
Pierogi are Polish dumplings made from thin dough filled with various fillings, boiled and often fried in butter.
The most famous filling is pierogi ruskie, made with potato, farmer's cheese and fried onion. Other fillings include sauerkraut and mushrooms, meat, and fruit such as blueberries.
Pierogi are served with sour cream, fried onions or bacon. They are eaten at holidays, especially Christmas Eve, and Kraków holds an annual pierogi festival.
