About Pakora
Pakora are crispy Indian fritters made by dipping vegetables in a spiced batter of gram (chickpea) flour and deep-frying them until golden. Onion, potato, spinach, cauliflower, chilies and paneer are popular choices.
The batter is seasoned with chili, turmeric, ajwain (carom seeds) and salt. Onion pakoras, often called onion bhajis in the UK, are made by mixing sliced onions directly with the batter and frying small clusters.
Pakoras are a favorite tea-time snack across India and Pakistan, especially on rainy monsoon days. They are served hot with mint chutney, tamarind chutney or ketchup.
