About Joulutorttu

Joulutorttu are Finnish Christmas pastries made from puff pastry folded into a star or pinwheel shape, with a dollop of prune jam in the center. They are dusted with powdered sugar after baking.

To make them, squares of pastry are cut from the corners towards the center, and alternate corners are folded in over the jam. Apple jam or other fillings are sometimes used.

Joulutorttu are a must in Finland during the Christmas season, often served with coffee or glögi, a hot spiced wine.
