About Christmas Pudding
Christmas Pudding is a rich, dark British dessert made with dried fruit, suet, breadcrumbs, flour, eggs, spices, treacle and brandy, steamed for hours and served on Christmas Day.
Traditionally it is made weeks ahead, on "Stir-up Sunday", the last Sunday before Advent, when every family member stirs the mixture and makes a wish. A silver coin is sometimes hidden inside for good luck.
The pudding is often decorated with a sprig of holly, doused in warm brandy and set alight at the table. It is served with brandy butter, custard or cream.
