About Toad in the Hole
Toad in the Hole is a classic British dish of sausages baked in Yorkshire pudding batter, which rises and puffs up around the sausages in the oven.
The batter is made from flour, eggs and milk and is poured into a dish with very hot fat, so it rises and becomes crisp at the edges and soft underneath.
The origin of the funny name is not known, but some say the sausages look like toads peeking out of holes. It is usually served with onion gravy and vegetables.
