About Chana Masala
Chana Masala is a spicy, tangy chickpea curry from North India. The chickpeas are cooked in a sauce of onions, tomatoes, ginger, garlic and a blend of spices, including coriander, cumin and garam masala.
Amchoor (dried mango powder) gives the curry a slightly sour taste, which is characteristic of the dish. It can be dry or have plenty of sauce, depending on the region and the cook.
Chana Masala is a popular vegetarian meal across India and Pakistan, eaten with rice, roti, naan or fried breads such as bhature. It is also a common street food.
