About Beef Tacos
Beef Tacos are tortillas folded around seasoned beef and topped with fresh garnishes. In Mexico, tacos are usually made with soft corn tortillas and many styles of beef, from grilled carne asada to slow-cooked barbacoa and shredded beef.
The version with ground beef, crispy pre-shaped shells, shredded lettuce, tomato and cheese is a Tex-Mex style that became popular in the United States in the mid-20th century. The beef is cooked with onion and a seasoning of chili powder, cumin, garlic and oregano.
Tacos are one of the most popular street foods in Mexico, served at taquerías from morning until late at night. They are usually finished with chopped onion, cilantro, a squeeze of lime and salsa.
