About Tuna Nicoise Salad

Tuna Niçoise Salad is a hearty salad from Nice, in southern France, made with tuna, hard-boiled eggs, tomatoes, black Niçoise olives, green beans and often potatoes, dressed with olive oil and vinegar.

The original Niçoise salad used raw vegetables, anchovies and tuna, with no cooked potatoes or green beans. Purists in Nice still argue about which ingredients belong in the salad.

Many versions now use seared fresh tuna instead of canned. It is a popular summer lunch in France and around the world.
