About Panna Cotta

Panna Cotta, meaning "cooked cream", is a smooth, delicate Italian dessert of cream sweetened with sugar, flavored with vanilla and set with gelatin. It is served cold, often turned out of its mold.

The cream is gently heated with sugar and vanilla, then gelatin is stirred in and the mixture is chilled until it sets. A good panna cotta should just hold its shape and wobble softly.

It is associated with the Piedmont region of northern Italy. Panna cotta is often served with berry sauce, caramel or chocolate sauce, and became a popular restaurant dessert worldwide in the 1990s.
