About Oliebol
Oliebollen are Dutch doughnut balls made from yeast dough with raisins, currants and sometimes apple, deep-fried and dusted with powdered sugar. The name means "oil balls".
Scoops of soft dough are dropped into hot oil, where they puff up and turn golden brown. They are best eaten warm.
Oliebollen are a Dutch New Year's Eve tradition. In the winter months, they are sold from stands called oliebollenkramen across the Netherlands.
