About Momo
Momo are Nepali steamed dumplings filled with spiced minced meat or vegetables. They are the most popular street food in Nepal and are also eaten in Tibet, Bhutan and northern India.
The filling is usually buffalo, chicken, pork or vegetables, mixed with onion, garlic, ginger, cilantro and spices. The dumplings are pleated into round or half-moon shapes and steamed.
Momo came to Nepal from Tibet with Newar traders. They are served with a spicy tomato and sesame chutney (achar), and also come fried or in soup (jhol momo).
