About Haggis

Haggis is Scotland's national dish, a savory pudding of sheep's heart, liver and lungs minced with onion, oatmeal, suet and spices, traditionally cooked in a sheep's stomach.

It has a crumbly texture and a nutty, peppery flavor. Today, most haggis is cooked in an artificial casing, and vegetarian versions are also popular.

Haggis is the centerpiece of Burns Night on 25 January, which celebrates the poet Robert Burns, who wrote "Address to a Haggis". It is served with "neeps and tatties" (mashed turnips and potatoes) and a glass of whisky.
