About Lassi

Lassi is a cool, creamy yogurt drink from Punjab in northern India. Yogurt is blended or churned with water or milk, and it can be sweet, flavored with sugar and cardamom or rose water, or salted and spiced with roasted cumin.

It is a refreshing drink in India's hot summers and is believed to help digestion. Thick, sweet lassi in Punjab is often served in tall glasses or clay cups, topped with a layer of malai (clotted cream).

Mango lassi, made with mango pulp, is the version most people know outside India. Lassi is sold at street stalls across the country, and the city of Varanasi is famous for its rich lassi shops.
