About Kottu Roti
Kottu Roti is a popular Sri Lankan street food of chopped flatbread (godamba roti) stir-fried on a griddle with vegetables, egg, meat and spices.
The cook chops the roti and other ingredients with two metal blades on a hot griddle, making a loud rhythmic clatter that can be heard down the street.
Kottu is often made with chicken, beef or mutton curry. It is thought to have started as cheap street food in eastern Sri Lanka in the 1960s or 1970s, and it is now a favorite late-night food across the country.
