About Empanada
Empanadas are baked or fried pastry turnovers filled with meat, cheese or vegetables. In Argentina, they are one of the most popular snacks and are made in every province.
Classic Argentine empanadas are filled with chopped or minced beef, onions, hard-boiled eggs, olives and spices like cumin and paprika. The edges are folded in a decorative braid called repulgue, which shows the type of filling.
The name comes from the Spanish empanar, to wrap in bread. Empanadas came from Spain and are eaten throughout Latin America, with regional differences in each country.
