About Curry Puff
Curry Puff is a popular Southeast Asian snack of flaky pastry filled with curried chicken or beef and potatoes, folded into a half-moon shape with a crimped edge and fried or baked until golden.
It is especially loved in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, where it is known as karipap. The pastry likely draws on British and Portuguese pastries, while the curry filling reflects Indian and Malay flavors.
Some versions have a spiral, multi-layered pastry made by rolling together two kinds of dough. Curry puffs are sold at morning markets, bakeries and hawker stalls and eaten as a breakfast or teatime snack.
