About Cobb Salad
Cobb Salad is an American main-course salad of chopped lettuce topped with neat rows of chicken, bacon, hard-boiled egg, avocado, tomato and blue cheese, served with a red wine vinaigrette.
It was created in the 1930s at the Brown Derby restaurant in Hollywood and is named after the owner, Robert Cobb. One story says he put it together late at night from leftovers in the kitchen.
The ingredients are finely chopped so each forkful contains a bit of everything. It became a favorite of Hollywood stars and is now a classic on American restaurant menus.
