About Tom Yum
Tom Yum is a hot and sour Thai soup, known for its bold flavors of lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, galangal, chili and lime juice. It is one of Thailand's best-known dishes.
"Tom" means boiling and "yum" means a spicy and sour salad. The soup can be made with shrimp, chicken, fish or mixed seafood, and mushrooms.
There are two main types: a clear soup (tom yum nam sai) and a creamy version with milk or chili paste (tom yum nam khon). It is served with rice, and similar soups are eaten in Laos, Malaysia and Singapore.
