About Sashimi
Sashimi is a Japanese dish of very fresh raw fish or seafood sliced into thin pieces and served without rice. Tuna, salmon, yellowtail and octopus are popular choices.
The skill of the chef is important: the fish must be extremely fresh, and it is cut with a sharp knife to bring out its texture. The way it is cut depends on the type of fish.
Sashimi is served with soy sauce, wasabi, pickled ginger, shredded daikon radish and shiso leaves. It is often the first course of a formal Japanese meal.
