About Kottbullar

Köttbullar are Swedish meatballs, small and tender, made from ground beef and pork mixed with onion, breadcrumbs soaked in milk or cream, and egg. They are fried in butter until browned all over.

They are usually served with a creamy brown gravy, boiled or mashed potatoes, quick-pickled cucumber and lingonberry jam. The sweet-tart lingonberries are an essential part of the dish.

Meatballs are an everyday meal in Swedish homes and are also part of the Christmas buffet, the julbord. They became famous worldwide through the restaurants in Swedish furniture stores.
