Kanelbullar

Also known as Swedish Cinnamon Buns
About Kanelbullar
Kanelbullar are Swedish cinnamon buns, made from a soft yeast dough flavored with cardamom and filled with butter, sugar and cinnamon. They are rolled, cut and twisted into spirals or knots, then topped with pearl sugar before baking.
Compared to American cinnamon rolls, they are smaller and less sweet, and they are not covered in icing. The cardamom in the dough is the key Scandinavian touch.
Kanelbullar are an important part of fika, the Swedish custom of taking a coffee break with something sweet. The buns even have their own day: Kanelbullens dag, cinnamon bun day, is celebrated in Sweden every year on 4 October.
