About Pupusas
Pupusas are El Salvador's national dish: thick corn tortillas stuffed with cheese, beans or pork and cooked on a griddle.
Popular fillings include quesillo cheese, refried beans and chicharrón (ground pork), or a mix called revuelta. Loroco, an edible flower, is also a favorite.
Pupusas are served with curtido, a tangy pickled cabbage slaw, and tomato salsa. El Salvador celebrates National Pupusa Day on the second Sunday of November.
